Accessibility

Ivy Software courses are constantly evolving to meet the needs of users that require accessibility features, and we strive to meet ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements.   The text material (textbook) in the courses is presented in PDF format.  PDF format offers features such as: text to speech, highlighting and compatibility with screen reader software.  For video elements in the courses such as introductions and lectures we are in the process of rolling out transcripts (in PDF format) for those elements.  We chose to offer transcripts instead of closed captioning due to the volume of information being presented in the videos.   At the time of writing this we have the described transcripts for: Business Law Essentials, Financial Accounting and Managerial Accounting.  With respect to the exercises, reading comprehension quizzes and practice quizzes in the courses those elements are legacy elements produced in Adobe Captivate and published in HTML5 format.  In those elements the text is fixed and cannot be highlighted or read via text to speech software, but the screen can be zoomed into making it easier to read for visually impaired users.  The assessment tests, self-assessment quizzes and final exams are all native to Moodle and most screen readers work with the content.  Several of our general education courses are native to Moodle and therefore are compatible with accessibility software.  Those courses are Government, Psychology, Western Civilization and Composition.
